Hispanic Wellness Coalition (HWC) Sponsorship

DFW-CHW Association is pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with the Hispanic Wellness Coalition (HWC) and will be sponsoring their 2 public health screening events this year.

 

19th Annual North Texas Wellness Fair

This event offers a wide range of FREE medical screenings to the public along with exercise and cooking demonstrations and more. The NTWF is designed to provide access to health care prevention services and information to those who cannot afford it. The objective is to break the barriers of communication by introducing health services to participants and build trust among the providers and those in need.

12th Annual Carnaval de Salud

FREE screenings: glucose/cholesterol, HIV/STD, vision, BMI/blood pressure checks, prostrate and dental exams. There will be health and fitness demonstrations, participatory exercise, music and fun.

  • Limited amount of Meningitis Shots available for uninsured college students ages 19 to 26.
  • For adults: Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) vaccine; mammograms; cancer screenings; body fat analysis; diabetes screening; cholesterol screening; pregnancy tests; hearing tests for ages 17 and older
  • For children: Vision screenings; vaccinations; school physicals
  • For all: Oral health education; spinal screenings; health information booths
  • Healthy cooking demonstrations
  • Exercise demonstrations
  • Financial literacy
  • Information on immigration physicals
  • Blood drive

Volunteers needed for both events!

We’ll need volunteers to assist with the following:

  • Exhibitor Support
  • Medical Screener (medical assistant duties)
  • Parking lot (shuttle)
  • Demonstration Support
  • Counters (count people entering the fair)
  • Bilingual Support
  • Floater (provides support where needed)
  • Surveys

Past Volunteer Events

Our partner organization, Faith Walkers Charities is a faith based charity that ‘Feeds & Supports’ the needy in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Faith Walkers Charities wants to impact the world by helping those who are in need both physically and spiritually. Their mission is to provide for those who are in need and lead them to stability. We helped distribute hot meals and vital hygiene kits to the homeless popultaions in both Dallas and Greater Fort Worth in August 2016.

Clothing Closet

Be a friendly face to families/homeless individuals while helping to provide a dignifying shopping experience. We provide gently-used clothing to our pantry clients, as well as 20-25 Stewpot (homeless) clients each day. We offer a variety of clothing in order to help our clients feel good about their selection and to supplement their household budgets. This opportunity is available Monday through Thursday 8:30AM – 12:30PM.

Healthy Eating and Living Summer Feeding Program

Put a smile on the face of a child this summer, by volunteering with the Healthy Eating and Living Summer Feeding Program, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at a facility located in the Southern sector of Dallas County.
